Here's what we were working with - a narrow strip of worn concrete along the back of the house, a mismatched paver section sinking into the ground, and not much usable space to speak of. The kind of backyard that just kind of exists rather than actually getting used.

What this homeowner needed was a clean foundation to work from. Something that would connect the back door, run through the yard, and open up into a real space out by the garage. That means planning the layout carefully before a single yard of concrete gets poured - getting the flow right, the width right, and making sure everything ties together once it's done.

We poured a wide, smooth patio that stretches from the house out toward the garage, with a curved walkway running alongside it. The curves aren't just for looks either. A gentle arc along the edge of a planting bed reads a lot better than a hard 90-degree corner, and it gives the whole yard a finished feel instead of a patched-together one.

This is exactly what a concrete walkway and patio should do - make the yard easier to move through, easier to keep clean, and actually worth spending time in. No more navigating around uneven pavers or stepping through wet grass to get to the garage. Just solid, clean concrete that holds up to real use.

Good concrete work is pretty low-drama once it's in. No weeding between pavers, no sections settling at different rates, no annual maintenance headaches. It just sits there and does its job for years.
